Quick, Comfortable Process

Benefits Of Digital Scanning

No more goopy, invasive and uncomfortable impressions. Molds and putty are not very pleasant, and they required you to keep a not-so-pleasant tasting substance in your mouth for longer than you would have liked and could leave your jaw feeling tired. This is a thing of the past.

Thousands of pictures of the mouth can be taken in 3 to 5 minutes. These 3D images of your smile can be seen on the screen in real-time.

Patients can sit back, relax and not worry about the hassle of traditional impressions. The scanning process is short, and it can be stopped and started as often as necessary. The patient will be able to breathe comfortably throughout the process.

Digital technology improves the quality of impressions on the first try. The iTero Elements scanner, a powerful computer, improves accuracy by snapping thousands of pictures quickly, easily, comfortably and accurately and compiling them into a comprehensive 3D image. It maps your entire mouth from top to bottom.

Digital scanning helps you to better understand what Dr. Joosse is seeing and provides predictive modeling of the changes that are going to take place over the course of treatment. Digital scanning allows a patient to actually see the smile that they are investing in for the future.

No, the iTero Elements scanner doesn’t use any radiation! It only uses light, specifically white LED and red laser light.

Orthodontic X-rays only use a minor amount of radiation, and we take extra precautions to make sure that your exposure is as little as possible. Getting X-rays is perfectly safe, and X-rays are especially beneficial to make sure that your oral health stays in good shape and your orthodontic treatment is going as planned.

We will take X-rays before we begin orthodontic treatment to assess the overall health of your teeth and gums. We will also need to take X-rays near the end of your treatment to make sure everything is going as planned. Finally, we will take one last set of X-rays after your treatment is complete to make sure everything is looking as it should.

The scanner uses a wand, which is waved over your teeth to take 3D pictures. The wand uses light, specifically white LED and red laser light, in order to take 3D pictures of your mouth.

On average, the scan takes about 5-10 minutes, but if you need to take a short break during the scan, we can!
